BOB SCHWIETERS’ LEGACY LIVES ON
Bob Schwieters built more than a successful dealership—he built a culture rooted in honesty, accountability, family, and genuine care for people.
Raised on a dairy farm in Minnesota by his parents, Herbert and Aurelia Schwieters, Bob was one of 12 children in a home where hard work, respect, and helping others were simply a way of life. Those early lessons shaped his character and became the foundation of everything he did.
Bob began his automotive career in 1972 as a salesperson at Baston Chevrolet. He quickly stood out—not just because he could sell cars, but because he treated people right. Over the years, he built a strong reputation in the St. Cloud community as someone who valued relationships, led with integrity, and always made time to recognize the contributions of others.
Together with his wife, Kathy, Bob opened his first dealership in Glenwood, Minnesota. They ran the business with a simple mission inspired by Bob’s upbringing: create a place where people—customers, employees, and even the delivery driver dropping off a package—felt respected and appreciated. That same philosophy guided the founding of Schwieters Chevrolet in Cold Spring in 2003.
Bob's commitment to growth and opportunity didn’t stop there. As the business expanded to include locations in Willmar and Montevideo, he made it a priority to create meaningful career paths for his top-performing employees—many of whom grew into leadership roles under his mentorship.
Bob Schwieters was a leader, a mentor, and above all, a good man. His legacy lives on in the values that continue to define our company today: honesty, accountability, family, fun, teamwork, growth, and customer satisfaction.
For three generations, the Schwieters family has lived in and served the communities of Central Minnesota. Though our first generation has passed on, their legacy of community pride and partnership continues to guide us every day. We’re proud to support the communities that have supported us—because we know our success is built on that shared connection, and it’s something we never take for granted.
